There is no extra charge for shooting your wedding video in Widescreen 16:9 format.

Widescreen 16:9

We recommend from this day forward that everyone have their video shot in widescreen 16:9 format. The reason for this is that in the very near future, this will be the standard.

It will not matter that you don't have a widescreen television right now because your DVD player will play it properly with the black bars above and below. Then, when you do switch to a widescreen television, you need to set your DVD player to display in 16:9 in the settings menu. Your wedding video will fill the entire screen because that was the way it was shot and edited.

If you choose to shoot it in standard format (4:3) the images will be stretched out unless you switch your widescreen TV to display in 4:3. Then you have those bars on the left and right instead of the top and bottom, not utilizing the whole width of that nice TV you just bought..

So to summarize, you can display widescreen video properly on a standard television but you cannot display standard video properly on a widescreen television.
